advrider
So you are on your bike and cruising along the highway. As you look in your rearview mirror, seemingly out of nowhere, there’s a police car on your tail. Then the lights and siren come on. You immediately pull over to find out what all the fuss is about. While this is a very probable and highly common scenario, this one was a “little” different. As seen and heard in the officer’s body cam footage, the officer asked the rider if he knew how fast he was going. That’s a pretty typical question at a speed-related traffic stop. And the rider offers a pretty standard response to the trooper’s question. But in this particular instance, the rider’s answer may not have been accurate. The rider simply says I don’t know. I wasn’t paying attention. OK then. But at least according to the state trooper, this rider was traveling at 147 mph in a 65 mph zone. If true, that speed is more than double the three-lane highway’s speed limit. The rider’s “I don’t know. I wasn’t paying attention.” seems to be more than a bit of a stretch. [embedded content] Let’s face it; we have all ridden over the speed limit at one time or another, sometimes by mistake and sometimes on purpose. And more than a few of us ended up having an encounter with the police. As for this story, I suggest that it would be pretty hard to not know you were traveling at 147 mph. With that in mind, what do you think of the rider’s response? If you were in a similar situation, what would you say? Vezi sursa
