Arrowhead Engineered Products Agrees to Acquire BIHR

For North American motorcyclists in search of seal kits, carburetor rebuild kits, or suspension seals, the name All Balls Racing will be a familiar one. Their parent company, Arrowhead Engineered Products (AEP), acquired All Balls back in 2012, back when they were called Arrowhead Electrical Products, and is only one in a long list of companies that AEP has purchased in the last decade. For their latest acquisition, AEP has entered into an agreement to purchase Bihr, a major European distributor of powersports parts and accessories.

While AEP currently enjoys a worldwide reach, their purchase of Bihr will significantly strengthen their European coverage, with a similar diverse portfolio of powersports products. Bihr distributes Yoshimura, Renthal, Bell, RST, Barkbusters, Arai, and about 350 other brands, with over 200,000 products in their catalogue. Bihr offers 24-hour European delivery times from seven warehouses, with 1,000 employees shipping up to 7,000 parcels each day.

Alcopa, a Belgian investment company that was originally an automotive and motorcycle distributor, purchased their own stake in Bihr in 2010, and proceeded to expand Bihr’s European operations outside of that company’s origins in France. AEP’s acquisition of Bihr from Alcopa and the rest of Bihr’s investors are due to the success of that expansion program.

The handover is expected to occur in the third quarter of 2022, after Works Council (a.k.a. union) and regulatory review and approval. Once complete, Arrowhead and Bihr will combine and allow two already big names in powersports distribution to expand even further.

While this will theoretically mean changes for Euro customers, will North Americans benefit? Uh, stay tuned on that one.
