advrider
The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin will see minimal updates for 2023. Although we haven’t seen a North American press release yet, the Euro press releases issued earlier this morning only give details for new paint schemes for next season. Here’s the company line: The CRF1100L Africa Twin and CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports both receive striking new colour updates for 2023, giving riders the choice of three new looks for Honda’s flagship adventure machine. The athletic, lightweight and sporty CRF1100L Africa Twin receives two colour updates for 2023. Joining the iconic Grand Prix Red, which is being carried over from 2022, the Africa Twin will be available in Mat Ballistic Black Metallic now complete with an all-black frame, and a new Glint Wave Blue Metallic Tricolour which features a new blue headlight cowl, and blue front fender and tail sections with red and white detailing. The continent-crossing CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports – which in 2021 accounted for 56% of Africa Twin sales in Europe- will be available in two distinctive colours for 23YM. The timeless Pearl Glare White Tricolour, complete with gold wheels, remains on the line-up and is joined by the new contemporary Mat Iridium Gray Metallic colour, featuring black detailing that complements its jet black wheels. The separate presser for the Adventure Sports variant basically says: “You got your updates last year; this year, you get Bold New Graphics.” That’s a paraphrase, of course, but it’s the gist of it. North Americans may get slightly different color options, but we will certainly see no mechanical updates that the Brits/Euros don’t get. And really, the changes we saw in 2021 weren’t too significant either. In that respect, the Honda Africa Twin series will be pretty similar to the BMW R1250 GS, which only sees minor reconfiguration of its options packages for 2023. The Suzuki V-Strom 1050 is also unchanged, and we haven’t really heard of any other flagship ADVs doing an overhaul this fall. It seems that as the future moves towards electric vehicles, the OEMs are understandably reluctant to dump cash into the existing lineup.
