advrider
Sometimes our choice on whether we ride our motorcycle or not comes down to how presentable we need to be at our destination. Sometimes there’s no telling whether there will be safe, adequate motorcycle parking at the end of our journey. A Spanish company, Mimoto, is solving both problems. Mimoto garages have popped up in five different spots in Spain. They have proven so popular that the company plans to open more locations as soon as they can. Why so popular? They solve several problems that motorcyclists face every day. Problems All Motorcyclists Face There have definitely been times I’ve driven my car on a beautiful day, only because I knew there would be no place to stash my gear and no safe place to park the bike at my destination. Secure parking doesn’t just mean we’re safe from surrounding traffic possibly damaging our bikes. It also means secure from theft and possible vandalization. Heck, sometimes we just don’t want to leave our bikes out in the rain. As an added bonus, a place to stash your gear and your helmet (and maybe even your boots) right alongside your bike makes us look at the Mimoto garages and say “why didn’t I think of that?” The Simple Solution For just two Euros an hour, you can take advantage of the Mimoto garages in Spain. When you rent a space, which is available at the aforementioned hourly rate, or permanently with a subscription plan, you get personalized access to your own indoor numbered spot. That spot contains a locker for your riding gear, too. Payment is via app, and is contactless. Here’s an adorable Mimoto ad for your viewing pleasure. It’s super cute, and you’ll understand it even if you don’t speak Spanish. You can request a photo of your parking spot through the app, so if you’re away from your bike and you’re worried about it, you get photo evidence that it’s okay. The Mimoto site has a great live walk-though that’s better if you speak Spanish. The host explains that the spots are personal and numbered, there are lockers for your riding gear. There are spots for bicycles as well as dedicated spaces for electric motorcycles, with outlets!
