advrider
I spend a lot of time chewing through YouTube content for both work and fun, and every once in a while, I run across something that stops me and makes me ask: How have I not seen this work before? It’s pretty good stuff! That’s how I felt when I found the Nick Adams channel this month. Most riders think the world of adventure bikes is one thing, and the world of vintage bikes is another thing. Adams doesn’t feel that way—but he also doesn’t trot out the old line “any bike ride is an adventure” and then just ride out for coffee. Nope, he’s out there doing the thing, visiting the edges of the world on ancient motorcycles. After seeing a few of these videos, I wondered: Why is this channel basically unknown? He posts under the username @nick949eldo—see one of his fantastic moto-adventures detailed here. You can see his author’s website here, offering not just his motorcycle books but also other stuff he’s written from his day job (archaeology). I was aware of his moto writing for several years, and spent a good chunk of my vacation going through a couple of his more recent books. But to me, the YouTube channel adds a whole new dimension to his adventures. They aren’t the adrenaline-filled videos of some popular ADV-focused YouTubers, and they don’t feature flawless photography of vibrant scenery. They’re just honest videos of tough rides with a soothing voiceover, with no BS. If only more YouTubers were as matter-of-fact about their adventures … [embedded content] Vezi sursa
