For example: The protection specialists at Barkbusters have just announced a handguard kit to the Pan Am. Who’s Barkbuster? Barkbuster is one of the OGs of the Australian offroad aftermarket, kickstarting their business in 1984. While el-cheapo handguards are not hard to find, thanks to Wish and other Chinese retailers, Barkbusters are definitely a step above in their quality, and come custom-fit to many popular adventure bike models. That means, instead of having to chop the ends off your levers to fit them into the handguards, the Barkbusters are made to properly fit over your brake and clutch controls. They’re less faffing about, a better fit, and they look a lot better. Barkbuster’s Pan America options The Barkbuster options for the Pan America have two mounting points, using heat-treated aluminum cores to hold up in a crash. They come with four separate options for the plastic shield: The Jet, VPS, Storm and Carbon models. They also come with a bar end weight that reduces vibration. The BBZ fabric handguard can also be fitted to the Pan America for weather protection, over the plain-Jane aluminum “backbone” assembly. As with all of Barkbuster’s products, you pay more for the improved quality. Pricing depends on your local retailer, but you can expect to pay between $150 and $180 in the US. You can also run that price up a little higher by adding integrated turn signals as an accessory. For more deets, check out the Barkbuster website.
