SC-Project Launches New Exhaust System Options For Ducati DesertX

As expected, not long after the launch of the DesertX, we are starting to see aftermarket options for owners of the all-new machine from Ducati. One of the companies wasting no time is Italian manufacturer SC-Project, who has released its Rally Raid muffler for the DesertX — a slip-on exhaust system already offered for several Adventure Bikes like the Tenere 700, 890 Adventure and Norden 901.

Constructed with high-grade lightweight titanium, the Rally Raid muffler shaves off 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) of weight compared to the stock pipe and features a compact build (250 mm length) complete with an end cap that follows its rally design.The product draws from the company’s involvement in motorcycle racing at the highest level and more specifically “is the result of SC-Project’s experience during the most extreme off-road competitions,” says the manufacturer.

The system maintains the DesertX’s Euro 5 homologation and, as part of SC-Project’s slip-on line, is also 100% plug-and-play. Besides weight savings and an enhanced sound, the Rally Raid muffler offers a gain of 1.5 horsepower and 0.9 ft-lb of torque at 8,200 rpm. According to SC-Project the system also offers “a stable improvement of power and torque delivery in the low and mid range.”

For a bigger performance boost, SC-Project offers an optional de-cat kit.

For those looking for more power and weight savings, SC-Project also offers an optional de-cat kit to use in combination with the Rally Raid muffler. This decreases weight by 5.1 kg (11.2 lbs) and gives a total boost of 2.8 hp and 1.6 ft- lbs of torque at 8,500 rpm. However, keep in mind that this is a non-street legal upgrade, which the company labels as intended ‘for racing only’.
