advrider
If you are a fan of Royal Enfield’s popular twin-cylinder motorcycles, the Indian manufacturer has something for you. They are celebrating the brand’s 120-year history with two limited edition machines. Royal Enfield’s 120th Anniversary Limited Edition INT 650 twin. That’s 120 years of endurance and adaptability, of great challenges and even greater fun. Above all, 120 years of outstanding motorcycles and their enthusiastic riders. To mark this milestone, Royal Enfield will offer its fans the 120th Year Anniversary Edition Continental G.T. and Interceptor 650. They say the bikes offer “… An opportunity for motorcycling enthusiasts across the globe to partake in owning a commemorative edition motorcycle and become a part of the rich legacy of the brand that you built with us.” Royal Enfield’s 120th Anniversary Limited Edition Continental G.T. No mechanical improvements are noted, but several styling changes make the 120th anniversary Royal Enfield twins different. Traditions that have been passed down generations. In the 120th year we celebrate the coming together of centuries old craft and contemporary manufacturing prowess. The two motorcycles, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 make a special appearance in a unique Black Chrome finish with a handcrafted brass badge, hand painted pinstripes, anniversary emblem, exclusive seats and carry a unique serial number on their tanks. Royal Enfield says the 120th Year Anniversary Edition INT 650 and Continental GT 650 have been designed and handcrafted by the company’s teams across the U.K. and India. For example, the bike’s unique brass badges are crafted in collaboration with the Sirpi Senthil family, who are multi-generational artisans from the temple town of Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. However, the 120th Year Anniversary Edition Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650’s brass badges will be the first time these artisans have collaborated with any automotive brand. In addition, each limited edition bike will come with a unique black chrome tank color developed in-house using Royal Enfield’s chroming technology at its original 1950s manufacturing factory in Thiruvottiyur, Chennai, India. Complementing the black chrome tanks, both the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 will have completely blacked-out components, including the engine, exhaust, and other elements “…in an array of black color schemes.” Royal Enfield’s 120th Anniversary Limited Edition Twins will each get a special seat Photo: Royal Enfield. Each bike’s fuel tank will also be pinstriped by hand. Upping the ante, the fuel tank’s special top badge will feature unique serial numbers that identify each machine as one of 60 unique motorcycles in any of four Royal Enfield designated regions around the world. Not yet done with making these bikes more special, Royal Enfield will adorn the bike’s side panel with a decal that is “…a special ode to Royal Enfield’s 120 years.” The bike will also come equipped with parts from the company’s Genuine Motorcycle Accessories catalog, including fly screens, engine guards, heal guards, and bar end mirrors. While there are apparently no mechanical advantages, the bikes look very different from the current run-of-the-mill Royal Enfield 650cc twins. Only 480 units of each model will be produced worldwide, with 30 of each model destined for the USA.
