The Badgers and their Support Bikers website have always been all about bikers helping bikers. Now, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, they’re following through on this more than ever.

Sonny, a.k.a. The Badger, and Angie, a.k.a. Momma Badger, were off riding in Missouri when Hurricane Ian hit. Their home and family back in Florida weathered the storm pretty much unscathed. But many in the Port Charlotte area, where the Badgers call home, were not so fortunate. So they’re leaving their bikes in Missouri, renting a truck, and bringing as many supplies as they can home with them to help people in need in the area.

How To Help, Or Be Helped

The Badgers have already secured a 26-foot box truck for the trip thanks to a donation. The hurricane page on the Support Bikers website says otherwise, but they told me this personally.  They are seeking further donations through PayPal. At 3:00 pm on Friday, September 30, they will go shopping for supplies and begin filling up the truck. They plan to leave Missouri on Saturday and arrive in Port Charlotte on Sunday.

If you are in the affected area and are in need of help or supplies, you can fill out this form to let the Badgers know what you need. Alternately, if you are in the area and would like to volunteer to help, you can contact Angie by Facebook Messenger or by text at 863-733-6101.

In the aftermath of a storm, it is all too easy to fall victim to scammers, collecting money in the name of a good cause who keep it instead of sending it where it’s supposed to go. I can assure you that the Badgers are the real deal. When they say they will do something, they follow through and make it happen. Last year they and their crew organized the World Record Poker Run from Florida to Sturgis. Right now they are working on Route 66 Passport Run for next year (full disclosure: I’m helping). So if you want to help fellow bikers in need, or if you happen to be one yourself, don’t hesitate to contact the Badgers.
