advrider
A Boston, Massachusetts-based startup, Boundless Rider, will soon offer insurance to powersports enthusiasts. But they also want to be a community resource for those who make powersports machines a part of their lifestyle. To do so, they recently raised $4.75M in seed funding in a round led by American Family Ventures. Along with insurance coverage for powersports machines like street bikes, dual-sport bikes, scooters, e-bikes, ATV/UTV, and snowmobiles, they will also offer other types of resources. Although insurance will be the crux of their business model, that is only part of what they plan to offer. Boundless Rider says they want to offer riders a place when they need to find riding information saying: “At Boundless Rider, we want to be your first choice when you need to find riding-related information, tips and other resources for riders. Whether you are looking for motorcycle or powersport insurance, motorcycle licensing info, maintenance and safety tips, or want to give back to the community. Boundless Rider supports your passion for riding by gathering these resources for you.” Boundless Rider also says it will bring tech-based solutions to the riding community. All of their information will be available through an upcoming app and online. Image: Boundless Rider One of their soon to be available resources is called Rider Pit-Stop. As you can guess, it will have information about insurance for riders. But it will also host information about motorcycle licensing, powersports vehicle information, rider training, powersports articles and riding tips. They will also have info about great riding locations and upcoming events and rallies. Topping off the app will be an additional app feature which will help you raise money for charity while you ride. So, all in all, a much different approach than hauling down to your local insurance broker and signing up in-office. We’ve seen a few attempts to disrupt the insurance business with mobile technology lately, and Boundless Rider’s plan to integrate fun into its app might change the often-disliked image of the insurer that takes your money when times are good, but is reluctant to pay up when that changes.
