advrider
KTM factory rider Manual Lettenbichler is king of the world right now—or at least, king of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, wrapping that title up at the final event of the season, last weekend in Spain. Lettenbichler took first at Hixpania, and that was enough to boost him to 127 points on the season, first overall over second-place Mario Roman (Sherco, 120 points) and third-place Graham Jarvis (Husqvarna, 93 points). It was a clutch win, as Lettenbichler could have lost the lead to Roman with some bad luck. After the race, he said: This feels so good! The pressure was definitely on this morning, I was so nervous before the start. When they changed the track a little bit, I think that occupied my mind a little and I was able to focus. I got a great start and was leading and managed to make a bit of a gap, but then after about an hour I was already starting to get tired and there was still a long way to go. Everyone was riding so well, but I knew it was Mario behind me and he kept the pressure on right to the finish. Trystan Hart, Lettenbichler’s teammate and a familiar face to many Americans (due to his AMA heroics) and Canadians (he’s from Canuckistan), bagged fourth in that race, and that was good enough for seventh overall on the season, the best result for anyone living this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Hart was discouraged by his result, but with a win at Red Bull TKO and excellent results at Romaniacs and Red Bull Outliers, it’s hard to not see this season as a breakthrough for Hart. Maybe he’s KTM’s next international off-road factory star? Final FIM Hard Enduro Championship Standings 1. Manuel Lettenbichler (GER), KTM, 127pts2. Mario Roman (ESP), Sherco, 120pts3.
