advrider
Sometimes, when we publish a story about sportbikes on this site, someone complains in the comments section, saying something like “I thought this was about adventure riding.” Well, no, you aren’t taking your BMW S1000 RR across the TAT (or you probably aren’t anyway; I do know someone who did it on a CBR600, and people like R1 Sjaak prove that “adventure bike” is just a label). However, I’d also say, when it comes to an event like the IOMTT or the Macau GP—isn’t a superbike flat-out on public roads a pretty adventurous idea in itself? With that in mind, here’s some good news. For 2022, motorcycles are back at the Macau GP! For the past couple of years, this legendary public-roads race in China has been closed to two-wheeled competition. Of course, the reason was COVID-19. Organizers were having a hard time fitting all the car racing into the program, so the first thing to go (as always) was the bike racing. But now it’s back! Once again, motorcycles are slotted into the Oct. 17-20 weekend, with the race running on Sunday, the final day of the program, after three days of practice. That’s excellent news, if you’re a fan of street circuit racing. the scene has been in serious decline in recent years, particularly since COVID-19 took the fun out of everything. Bikes are now supposedly permanently off the Pikes Peak schedule; other famous races from the Irish series and also in the UK were either canceled this year, or said to be in danger of cancellation due to lack of funding. At this point, we haven’t seen any explanation of how to watch Macau online, although there will surely be some way to do so. As always, we expect a star-studded lineup, including the heroes of the IOMTT and other public road races. If any of you inmates are lucky enough to watch this race in person, please tell us! We’d love to hear your in-person experiences from the Macau GP! Vezi sursa
