advrider
If you’ve seen On Any Sunday, you have to watch the definitive follow-up. No, I don’t mean On Any Sunday II, On Any Sunday: Revisited, On Any Sunday: Motocross, Malcolm, & More, or On Any Sunday, The Next Chapter. I mean On Any Other Sunday, a spoof by Hoxton Moto that nails the spirit of the original movie, while also being absolutely ridiculous. Ichiban Moto takes the place of Steve McQueen’s narration, and does an excellent job filling in. The short video follows the story of racing champion Dave Schofield. He, along with Dave’s dad, spend one weekend a year going to the races (and getting hopelessly lost in the process). Last year, Schofield earned the most points added up on someone’s hand in the finale to win the championship. [embedded content] In preparation for the race, Schofield spends over an hour a year working on his motorcycles. It’s not just turning nuts and bolts. Okay, so it is pretty much turning nuts and bolts. He spends at least ten minutes grinding down his sprockets by hand to save every bit of weight he can. Whether they will still be able to hold the chain without slipping remains to be seen. This year’s event consists of three events. The sprint is a straightforward 1/8 mile drag race, where racers can reach incredible speeds in excess of 19 mph. The hillclimb is an unbelievably twisty course up a very steep hill. This is in spite of the fact that the turns aren’t that bad, and they’re racing in a flat field. Finally, the 500 features a running start, followed by… well, exactly the same course as the hillclimb that’s not a hillclimb. Still, the 500 pushes the pros’ self-centered big egos to a breaking point. Will Schofield manage to win the championship this year? Will he overcome a series of bad starts, mechanical failures (he really just spun out, but that can’t possibly be his fault), alcohol poisoning, and a recurring fungal infection to hold onto the title? Or will one of the four upstart contenders take the sweet looking custom jersey after mathematician professor Christopher Staecker appears from the beer tent with his state of the art Victor 200 adding machine, engaging in intense button pushing to determine the winner? You’ll have to watch the video to find out. Vezi sursa
