Last year, KTM rolled out its RC 8C track-only sportbike. But for 2023, KTM says the RC 8C gets a major overhaul for an even sharper “READY TO RACE” profile. The new 2023 RC 8C receives “…a radically evolved LC8c engine…” designed specifically for track use. It is also lighter than before with “…many high-end components.”

RC 8C gets more power.

The bike’s power ante has been upped 7 hp at 11,000 RPM. With the upgrade, torque output is now 98 Nm (about 72.2 lb-ft). The power increase comes from new, lighter titanium valves and connecting rods, as well as two piston rings (to refine the oscillating masses). In addition, the engine’s compression ratios receive a boost and a bigger throttle body with bolstered fuel pump/pressure. Still, KTM was able to reduce the engine’s wall thickness to shave precious weight from the machine.

KTM has also increased the bike’s clutch preload, removed the top balancer, and adjusted the crankcase balancer shaft. They say these changes increase durability and an additional Pankl oil cooler increases thermal stability.

Less weight

The bike’s dry weight drops to a claimed 142 kg with the addition of a new titanium Akrapovic exhaust system. KTM also says the RC 8C receives “…the very latest configurations of WP PRO COMPONENTS.” Adjustments to the suspension setup include a softer WP APEX PRO fork and shock, which KTM says “…elevate comfort, contact, and confidence.”

Brembo brakes help slow things down. The RC 8C uses Brembo’s 19RCS CORSA CORTA brakes with three different bite points. 290 mm fully floating Moto Master discs are grabbed by Brembo Stylema calipers. At the rear, a Brembo two-piston caliper puts the slow onto the single 230mm disc.

The bike’s onboard display features a GPS data logger that flashes lap information, and the machine’s Quickshifter + lets the rider shift via a reverse pattern.

The bike’s 4.2-gallon fuel tank has also been revised. It is integrated into the rear subframe and seat unit. KTM says this arrangement makes the fuel’s weight placement “spot on.”

Finally, the bike is clad with normal race plastics. However, this time around, the machine gets winglets at the front to help enhance downforce and increase control under braking.

Pricing

Unfortunately, KTM did not announce US pricing saying only: “Dependent per market.” If you are interested in the new RC 8C, you can register your interest at KTM.com.
