advrider Posted August 2, 2023 Share Posted August 2, 2023 The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) wants to introduce motorcycle riding to more people. To that end, they are inviting people with no riding experience to come and take their first rides at the upcoming 2023 Sturgis event. Ride With Us Program To get more people to throw a leg over and ride a powered two-wheeler, the MIC runs a program called “Ride With Us.” The introductory program helps people who have never ridden a motorcycle get their first experience behind the handlebars. During the intro ride, participants receive free instruction on operating the throttle, clutch, and steering. Making the intro even more accessible, the MIC provides motorcycles, riding gear, and Motorcycle Safety Foundation-certified rider coaches free of charge. According to Cinnamon Kearns, the MIC’s Vice President of Market Expansion: “The entire experience — from sign-in to riding, to high-fives and smiles — takes about 20 minutes. Most and many of our past participants were amazed at how approachable motorcycle riding can be. Each rider is paired up with an MSF coach who accompanies them every step of the way, allowing the new riders to go at their own pace.” – Cinnamon Kearns, as quoted by a MIC press release. Kearns also said that the Ride With Us program hopes to inspire future riders after participating in a Ride With Us moto experience. “While they may not be coming to Sturgis this year as riders, after participating in a Moto Intro ride experience, I know they’ll be leaving inspired and ready to take the next steps towards becoming a rider themselves. First-time riders in 2023, Sturgis riders in 2024!” Even the mayor of Sturgis, Mark Carstensen, thinks the Ride With Us program will help spark interest in motorcycling. “The Motorcycle Industry Council’s Ride With Us Moto Intros are the perfect addition to this year’s 83rd Anniversary of the City of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.While the rally has traditionally been thought of as an event only for those who ride, activations like Ride With Us Moto Intros are about introducing non-riders, family, and friends into our lifestyle and culture. Together we can spark interest in riding with even more people.” – Mark Carstensen, as quoted by a MIC press release. Where To Go: If you know someone who may want to participate in the Ride With Us program, they can sign up for the riding experience in the parking lot of LifeSpring Wesleyan Church, 2105 West Lazelle Street in Sturgis, near the Boss Hoss Display.
