advrider
BMW Motorrad Days has been a fixture in Europe for several years now, but what if you don’t want to cross the pond to party at the Berlin factory with the other Beemer faithful? Maybe you don’t have the money, or the time, or you want to ride to the celebration, and it’s too expensive to get your bike across the Atlantic? There’s good news for you, if you’re in the US—BMW Motorrad Days is coming to the States this fall. On October 6,8, 2023, the celebration of the company’s machines and culture will run in Birmingham, Alabama, alongside the Barber Vintage Days festival. It’s all part of the company’s centenary celebration, marking 100 years since BMW’s motorcycle business kicked off back in the 1920s. Of course, some of those earliest BMW motorcycles will likely be on display at the on-site Barber Motorsports Museum, and we imagine BMW Motorrad’s American arm will also have its own displays. The PR from BMW promises a ride-in bike show, with vintage and custom machines, and even a scavenger hunt inside the Barber museum, looking for highlights from BMW’s history. If you want to see the company’s current offerings, and what they can do, there’s on-site demo rides of the current lineup, including off-road demos and even demos of BMW’s electric CE O4 scooter. If you really want to see what the machines are capable of, stunt rider Chris McNeil is supposed to be hooning about all weekend long. You can even sign up to ride on-track with pro roadracer Nate Kern for DoubleR Fest on Monday, October 9 (you don’t have to ride a BMW bike for this event, either—more details here). And of course, there’s the usual “motorcycle festival” scene: food trucks, music, a beer garden. You know the drills. BMW Motorrad USA is offering discounted tickets to the Vintage Festival if you register through them (more details should be coming here); pre-register for demo rides here.
