advrider
Triumph Motorcycles is recalling certain 2022 through 2024 Tiger Sport and Trident models for a problem with the hose connecting to the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. According to the British manufacturer, the hose leading to the MAP sensor may become obstructed, resulting in an engine stall. Triumph’s Safety Recall Report Triumph’s Part 573 Safety Recall Report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says 7,541 motorcycles are potentially affected. In its Part 573 Safety Recall Report, Triumph describes the cause of the recall as follows: “An obstruction can change the air pressure arriving at and recorded by the MAP Sensor. The MAP sensor requires accurate manifold air pressure readings in order to send correct information to the ECU. The ECU will adjust the air/fuel ratio based on the data received from the MAP sensor. On defective motorcycles inaccurate MAP data can lead to unstable idle and sometimes an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.” Describing the potential safety risk, Triumph says: “The cause of the defect is an obstruction of the restrictor as fitted within the MAP hose.” The 2023 Triumph Trident.
