Advpulse
Published on 08.24.2023 A year after moving their assembly operations to Kazakhstan, sidecar builder Ural has launched a new high-spec model called the Gear Up Expedition. Based on the brand’s long-standing Gear Up platform, Ural says the fresh bike “comes with everything a rider and a passenger may need to travel to the edge of the world and back.” The Expedition version can be had in three unique two-tone colorways, but it is not only about bold new graphics. On top of the standard Gear Up’s equipment, the Expedition offers all the bells and whistles including upgraded suspension, handguards, more luggage space, better bike and sidecar protection, matching windshields with a smoke tint and more. Power is delivered by a 749cc air-cooler, shaft-driven boxer engine pumping out 41 horsepower and 42 ft-lbs of torque. Complementing the powerplant is a five-speed gearbox which includes reverse plus the rear and sidecar feature selectable two-wheel drive. You also get IMZ leading link forks as well as Nitron shocks and Brembo brakes on the front, rear and sidecar. ADVERTISEMENT Other handy equipment is also included, like a universal fit spare wheel, a jerry can, tool kit, and a folding utility shovel. The whole package is finished with a slanted line along the sidecar and fuel tank that separates the colors. Ural says as a “nod to the Expedition’s ability to tackle any terrain, the line leans at 23.5 degrees — the same as Earth’s axial tilt.” Highlights Pricing and Availability The new Gear Up Expedition carries an MSRP of $31,440 USD ($42,100 CAD), which is $9,441 USD more than the standard model. The new model is available now at authorized Ural dealers in three colorways that Ural says “represent the various types of terrain that travelers may choose to explore”: Colza Field, Polar Dawn and Ember Flame.
