Advpulse
Published on 08.28.2023 Two years after its launch, Triumph is adding an adaptive feature to the revamped Tiger 1200 that is sure to be appreciated by the vertically challenged. First debuted in Harley’s Pan America as an ‘Adaptive Ride Height system,’ the Tiger’s new upgrade referred to as ‘Active Preload Reduction’ similarly lowers the resting seat h when the bike comes to a stop. The brand-new enhancement works with the Tiger’s Showa semi-active suspension across the current Tiger 1200 range. Specifically, the new feature can lower the resting seat h by up to .78 inches (20mm) depending on the combined weight of the rider, pillion and luggage by reducing the rear suspension preload as the Tiger 1200 slows. Combined with the accessory low seat option, the Tiger’s Active Preload Reduction allows the seat h on the GT variants to be reduced down to 31.9 inches (810 mm) and 32.8 inches (835 mm) on the Rally variants. ADVERTISEMENT New Tiger 1200 owners will be able to access this new minimum preload feature by simply pressing the ‘Home’ button on the right switch cube for one second, as the feature will now come standard on all new Tiger 1200 motorcycles. “This new feature can be enabled on the fly, lowering the center of gravity at slower speeds, making it even more accessible, offering riders more confidence at slow speeds and better contact with the ground as they come to stop,” says Triumph’s Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent The Active Preload Reduction will also be available to existing 2023 Tiger 1200 customers via a software update, which can be done by their authorized Triumph dealership during their next scheduled service. There will be no upgrade fee for existing customers to access the new feature, however standard dealership labor rates will apply for the service of the motorcycle.
