Want to ride through the Rockies in the middle of the fall colors? Exit Tours has an upcoming event planned out of the center of Colorado that gives you the opportunity to have fun on the trails while also enjoying beautiful scenery—the Hartsel Lodge Adventure Rendezvous.

The 2023 edition of the Rendezvous runs October 5-8 at Hartsel Springs Ranch, to the southwest of Denver. Exit Tours says there are adventure riding opportunities “in every direction,” and they aren’t BSing you. Look at the map, and you’ll see mountains and National Forests all over the area. Get on the paved roads to the southwest, and you can even forge on to the desert, or the Million Dollar Highway. But that’s not what the Rendezvous is about—instead, this event has 16 pre-scouted routes that are dirt roads and two-track, with as little pavement as possible. About 75 percent of the routes are two-up friendly, able to take a more street-oriented bike like a Harley-Davidson Pan America. The rest of the routes are more challenging. All the rides start on County Road 59 and loop back to the Hartsel Lodge at the end, where riders can rent a cabin, or take advantage of tent camping or RV facilities. The lodge itself has six bedrooms and a fancy-pants kitchen.

The emphasis at the Rendezvous is on fun and riding; Exit Tours says it’s a club-style event, which anyone can join, and comes with no meetings, workdays, seminars, or other hassles. Just sign up and ride! The routes themselves can be navigated by smartphone GPS systems, with turn-cue voice navigation.

There is, of course, a fee to attend, and in return you get coffee, access to the kitchen and barbecue, a chase truck, breakfast on Friday through Sunday and a dinner on Saturday night, a T-shirt and coffee mug, and of course you get the GPS tracks. For more details, including a complete list of what’s included, check out Exit Tours’ website here. It appears that pricing for the ride starts at $325 for “club membership,” and that camping/accoms are not included in that price.
