advrider
According to a Mitas press release, the company will soon release its most aggressive next-generation off-road adventure tire, the Mitas ENDURO TRAIL-XT+. As an 80% off-road and 20% on-road tire, Mitas says it was specially created for “riders who want to push the limits in off-road adventuring, with a tire they can trust to take them all the way.” Mitas’ Gustavo Pinto Teixeira, Vice President of Two Wheels And Specialty Tires said about the latest Mitas offering: “The ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ is the most aggressive tire in our adventure range, designed to meet the toughest trail conditions head-on. We want Mitas to be the tire of choice for off-road adventure lovers looking to ride harder and deeper into unknown territories with confidence.” Mitas says the ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ features an “…extremely aggressive pattern and unique compound formulation…” which gives it “impressive performance on muddy trails and rough gravel roads while handling high-speed motorways with ease.” They classify the ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ as an M+S design, which they say is “…designed to guarantee riders off-road performance, durability with good handling and stability on-road transfer sections.” Photo: Mitas Two versions Mitas’ newest tire is being released in two different versions. The Standard version is designed for “…the best all-around performance in any weather…” The Dakar version features an “Ultra Heavy-Duty version for maximum durability with a reinforced carcass, making it virtually puncture-proof.” Anytime a tire manufacturer claims a tire is “virtually puncture-proof,” it’s a big claim. It will be interesting to see whether the “virtually puncture-proof” Mitas ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ Dakar fares under challenging conditions. Multiple fitments The ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ is available in multiple sizes. The selection includes 17 and 18-inch rims for the rear and 19 and 21-inch sizes for the front. Pricing and availability The ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ will be available in September. Unfortunately, Mitas has yet to announce pricing for their newest tire.
