Coming Soon: New 450 ADV Bike From CFMoto

Here’s some interesting news out of Europe—it looks like we’re about to see a new 450 adventure bike coming in from CFMoto. The video above debuted from CFMoto’s French subsidiary in late October, and while it doesn’t show us much, it doesn’t really need to.

The name alone tells us pretty much everything. The MT series is CFMoto’s ADV line, and the 450 engine is almost certainly the same powerplant that currently muscles CFMoto’s 450SS sportbike around. There’s also a naked version, the 450NK, which is starting to spread to markets around the world. There’s even a retro/scrambler version:

What does that leave? The adventure bike version was the next logical progression, so this machine’s launch should come as no surprise.

For years, many people have been asking the Japanese OEMs to build a 400-class adventure bike (see here for a good idea of how great that demand is), but it appears the Chinese OEMs are going to beat them there (see also: Kove 450 rally race bike). In the case of this machine, we have no specs announced yet. We do know the 450 engine is a fuel-injected short-stroke liquid-cooled parallel twin with four valves per cylinder and DOHC, with 270-degree firing interval and six speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Max output in the sportbike version is 50 hp at 9500 rpm,, 28 lb-ft of torque at 7,600 rpm. Those numbers may be somewhat modified in an ADV configuration, but we wouldn’t count on it.

While we haven’t reviewed the 450 here at ADVrider, contributor Bill Roberson rode a 450SS for our sister publication Motorcycle.com a few months back. He said the power was smooth, and on par with the Japanese competition.

If the French distributor is already teasing the bike, we’d expect to see it unveiled pretty soon, maybe even at the EICMA show next week. That would probably put it on US shores within a year, if our market wants it. And the answer is that yes, there would probably be some demand here, even if many riders don’t want a Chinese bike.
