advrider
For the past few years, Yamaha has been tricking out machines like the FJ-09 tourer but the base model MT-09 hasn’t had niceties like cruise control. That changes for 2024, as Yamaha has brought several updates to the MT-09 naked bike, including niceties off the more expensive machines in the CP3-powered lineup. It does not sound like the CP3 engine itself is updated for 2024. There are changes to the other hard parts, though—revised suspension settings, new rider and passenger pegs, dropped handlebars, and new foot controls. Moving all those parts around makes for a more crouched-down riding position, and a new two-piece seat also works towards that end. There’s also a new Brembo radial master cylinder for the front stoppers, which should improve your feel at the lever, offering more linear control. There’s also a new projector-style LED headlight, with a new cowling to match. Behind that, there’s a new 5-inch TFT screen. The TFT can be used to show sat-nav guidance via Garmin’s app-based StreetCross GPS system. Of course, it can also connect to your mobile phone with Yamaha’s free MyRide system app. Then, it can be used to accept or reject incoming calls, or control music playback in your helmet. And, to keep that phone powered up, there’s a new USB-C charger and phone compartment under the seat. Other new, nice things: Cruise control is standard, and Yamaha uses the six-axis IMU to govern not just leaning-sensitive ABS and traction control systems, but also a new Back Slip Regulator system. Along with Sport, Street and Rain modes, the MT-09 now gets two user-definable ride modes. There’s a bunch of re-styled bodywork and a new taillight as well. This bike is already confirmed for Canada for 2024, but not listed on the American website yet. New Yamaha MT-09 SP 2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP. Photo: Yamaha 2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP. This has four Track riding modes that allow more rider-customization to match the electronics to specific track or circuit conditions, including the capability to alter engine braking and other settings. The settings can be altered through either the MyRide app or through the TFT dashboard itself. Speaking of that TFT, it also comes with a Track theme on the SP model. The SP also comes with Brembo Stylema brake calipers, fully adjustable KYB fork and Ohlins rear shock, and a Smart Key electro-ignition. Again, this isn’t confirmed for the US, the last that we’ve seen. Vezi sursa
