The OSET TXP Is Three Bikes in One

After being purchased by Triumph in June 2022, OSET Bikes has announced a pair of new electric off-road bikes, the TXP-20 and TXP-24. These bikes are an all-new design, not an evolution of their previous successful models, and promise a significant increase in capabilities. Around since 2004, OSET is an O.G. in the booming electric motorcycle industry. If you haven’t heard of them, it’s likely because their focus has traditionally not been road bikes or dual sports, but electric trial bikes for kids.

OSET uses an all-new motor in the TXP-20 and TXP-24. It uses a much higher specification sensor system, reading thousands of positions per revolution. This provides more precise power and speed control, which is useful on the trail and vital when trial riding. It promises higher performance, more power, greater efficiency, and better cooling than previous models. OSET’s lithium battery packs are also new, and appear to be the primary difference between the TXP-20 and TXP-24. While both models can run for up to three hours, OSET claims 13 percent more energy in the TXP-20 battery and 58 percent more in the TXP-24. Both batteries have a reinforced case, are IP67-rated for water resistance, a single-twist power connector, a state-of-charge LED indicator, and even a convenient carrying handle.

A unique feature of the TXP is a removable seat, which converts the seatless trial bike into something more suitable and comfortable for longer trail rides. OSET’s tagline for the TXP is “Trials, Xplore, Play.” You can use it for trial riding, tackling the trails, or practicing stunts. The TXP will do it all. OSET has not listed prices for the TXP-20 or TXP-24 yet.

With nearly 20 years of experience with electric bikes, it’s no wonder why Triumph bought OSET, yet enables them to continue developing their products and technology independently of their parent company. I wonder how much influence Triumph might have had in the design and electronics of these bikes. Perhaps more importantly for us, I wonder if/when Triumph will begin to leverage OSET’s technology in their road and adventure models.
