Harley-Davidson’s EV spin-off LiveWire continues to develop its battery bike plans, with a report the company is working on a new machine called the S2 Mulholland.

The report comes from Motorcycle.com, which spotted regulatory paperwork for the machine earlier in 2023, and has now seen internal paperwork that seems to indicate the bike is indeed confirmed for production:

We first caught wind of the name after the Harley-Davidson-owned brand filed a trademark application for “Mulholland” in April. At the time, we weren’t sure what to make of it, especially knowing there was a one-off Livewire One created last year by custom bike builder Alex Earle, called the E/Mulholland. We kept that on the back burner for a while until things started picking up, with Livewire filing more trademarks for “Mulholland” in multiple markets in October.

We can now confirm the name will be used for a Livewire S2 Mulholland, which we expect to be announced soon for the 2024 model year. The evidence comes to us from Harley-Davidson itself, which recently published an updated version of the 2024 Livewire S2 Del Mar’s owner’s and service manuals on its Service Information Portal site. Both documents make reference to the Mulholland, with the model code “S2MH”, along with other clues.

Read Dennis Chung’s write-up there for more details. From that paperwork, Chung was able to surmise that the bike has a seat height of 30.25 inches and weighs 429 pounds. Both of those numbers are slightly less than the S2 Del Mar, but there’s not enough difference to be terribly significant. Remember that when the S2 Del Mar launched, LiveWire told us that other machines would be based off the same platform. It appears the Muholland will be the first of those machines. Just guessing, we’d bet on a cruiser-styled model, or at least something that’s a bit more cruiser-esque than the S2 Del Mar.

The paperwork also showed some previously-unknown info on the S2 Del Mar, which has been pretty slow getting to production (see columnist Michael Uhlarik’s thoughts at the end of his Halloween story here). Again, check out Chung’s write-up for the full details, but it seems the S2 Del Mar is going to come with a secret “flat track mode” from the factory. Perhaps LiveWire intends to challenge the Super Hooligan series in 2024?
