advrider
Chinese manufacturers seem to be getting a lot more interested in the 450 rally raid motorcycle scene. If the Kove 450 Rally EX wasn’t evidence enough, behold the Keeway TX450R. Unveiled at EICMA, but with much less fanfare than the competition, this bike certainly has styling in-line with Chinese-built competitors. However, some of the mechanical bits will be a question mark for now. At this point, it is not Dakar-tested like the Kove competition. We don’t know much about the Keeway TX450R, but we do have some info on basic specs. It seems the engine is rated for 44 hp and 28 lb-ft of torque—sounds like it should be A2 license-legal in European markets, then. The single-cylinder powerplant is liquid-cooled, fuel-injected and comes with a six-speed gearbox. Neither is it the same engine that’s in the CFMoto 450MT—that’s a parallel twin. So is it a Keeway exclusive? When the bike hits the market, we’ll learn more, but many Chinese motorcycles share their engine designs with other in-country manufacturers and that’s probably the case here too. Check out the walkaround video below: [embedded content] The frame is aluminum; it looks like the USD fork and linkage-type shock are from FastAce, with 280 mm travel. The bike rolls on Pirelli RallyCross MT21 rubber, with 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear. Brake calipers are by Nissin, and switchable ABS is standard. There’s a steering damper installed from the factory. Note that while you might want to dismiss this machine as a pure styling exercise, Keeway did give it a triple gas tank setup, combining for 28-liter capacity. Overall, the whole package weighs 142 kg dry, says Keeway’s UK distributor, which could actually be less than the Kove 450. However, add in race equipment and such differences can be evened out. Remember that Keeway recently announced its reintroduction to the US market, and that might mean we’ll see this bike here, to compete with Kove… Vezi sursa
