Advpulse
When REV’IT! first rolled out its original Sand adventure touring suit in 2006, it quickly caught the attention of riders looking to tackle off-road trails and changing weather without breaking the bank. Rugged enough for dirt riding — and thanks to smart layering with waterproof and thermal liners — flexible enough to handle any season, the Sand quickly became a popular choice. For 2025, the series returns to the market in its fifth iteration. Sand 5 H20 Jacket REV’IT! has significantly upgraded the new Sand 5 jacket, starting with its shell, which is constructed from 600-denier Nylon, with 600-denier ripstop sections in critical areas for enhanced abrasion resistance and durability. Designed to surpass the strength of earlier models, including the Sand 4 introduced in 2021, printed polyurethane (PU) reinforcements are also strategically placed in high-wear zones such as the elbows, increasing protection and longevity. PU panels cover the high wear areas like the knees and elbows for some extra abrasion protection. Besides a more refined design, the new Hydratex waterproof liner is lighter, tougher, and more breathable than the version used in the Sand 4 jacket. It can also be worn under or over the jacket. The Sand 5’s waterproof Hydratex 3L laminate liner is claimed to be lighter, tougher, and more breathable than the version used in the Sand 4 jacket. Best of all, it’s now an under/over design, so it can be worn on top of the jacket as a sturdy external rain layer — a major advantage in heavy rain conditions that might otherwise saturate the outer shell, causing it to feel heavy. This layer has been upgraded for enhanced durability, and incorporates ripstop reinforcements for added strength. A more refined finish and updated color options allow it to blend seamlessly with the suit, ensuring a polished look both on and off the bike. For secure attachment with the jacket, both the thermal and waterproof liners replace the elastic loop system at the cuffs from earlier versions for a convenient snap on system. ADVERTISEMENT The thermal liner has also been upgraded and is now more useful as a standalone casual jacket, perfect for hanging out at your destination or even out in the world without your bike. Both liners now snap into the jacket at the cuffs, replacing the elastic loop system from earlier versions, resulting in a more secure and integrated attachment. The new thermal liner is now designed to be wearable as a standalone jacket. Ventilation has been significantly upgraded to include 3D fold-away vents that reveal super sized mesh panels on each side of the chest. These panels, which can still be opened as a slash vent using a single zipper, or rolled away entirely using both zippers, have been engineered to create extra space between the mesh and your body that allows the air to swirl around the skin for an improved cooling effect. Running down the center of each large mesh panel is a strip of Molle, which includes a snap closure, allowing the wearer to secure the flap in a half-open position if desired. The 3D ventilation panels can be rolled down all the way or they can be configured to open to the halfway position with a snap. A large 3D fold-away ventilation panel on the back is designed to flow a massive amount of air out of the jacket. New extra-long biceps zipper vents now feature a snap tab that holds them open for more airflow, while a massive 3D fold-away ventilation panel on the back finishes off a system that should be highly effective at temperature regulation. Snap tabs hold the vents open wide to increase airflow to the biceps. In the armor department, the new Gen 5 Sand jacket uses Seeflex CE Level-2 armor at the shoulders and elbows, a product designed to offer protection while preserving a rider’s range of motion. And because the inserts feature perforations to aid flexibility, they also happen to offer supreme airflow. The shell’s permanent liner will also accommodate optional SeeSoft CE Level-2 back and CE Level-1 chest protectors for riders wanting additional impact resistance. The Sand 5 jacket also has built-in webbing that allows you to easily hook on the optional REV’IT! Segur integrated neck brace for additional protection. Additional upgrades on the Sand 5 jacket include two cinch belts along the rib cage that can be raised or lowered on a rail system for a tailored fit, while a cinch cord tightens the bottom edge. A short, ergonomic-style collar can be tucked to the side when open, and when closed it’s adjustable using a slide closure. Wrists on the Sand 5 close using hook-and-loop flaps, as well as a zipper. A new hydration pocket with routing loops for the sip tube can be found in the lumbar area. This position relieves some weight off the lower back and doesn’t block ventilation. Enhanced waterproof pocket construction includes a new opening to prevent water seepage, a design REV-IT! says negates the need for cumbersome waterproof zippers or an unnatural entry angle. In the lumbar area of the jacket a new hydration pack pocket with revised tube routing through the shell has been added, and this pocket can optionally serve as an ideal way to stow shed layers. Compared to a hydration backpack, carrying the water in the lumbar area relieves some weight off the lower back and doesn’t block ventilation. The new Sand 5 jacket comes in sizes XS to 4XL and 5 colorways: Black/Anthracite, Grey/Dark Grey, Silver/Blue, Sand/Blue, and Silver/Anthracite. Amazingly, the suggested retail remains the same as the previous Sand 4 version at $529.99. Sand 5 H20 Pant REV’IT!’s CE AA-rated Sand 5 pants also feature several meaningful upgrades. As with the Sand 5 jacket the robust outer shell is constructed of 600-denier nylon, with 600 denier ripstop in slide-prone areas such as the bum. That ripstop panel also accommodates two small grip panels on the back inner thigh area to keep you from sliding on the seat in the rain or after a big river crossing. To enhance abrasion resistance, impact-prone areas such as the knees are reinforced with PU panels. In keeping with Sand tradition, the pants offer three layers: the shell, a Hydratex 3L waterproof liner and a thermal layer, and to match the new Sand 5 jacket, the H20-proof liner can now be worn either outside the pants as well as inside. Both the jacket and pant waterproof liners can be worn over the main shell to ensure heavy rain doesn’t weigh down the suit over time. The Sand 5 pants come standard with adjustable Seeflex CE Level-2 knee armor and REV’IT!’s Seesmart CE Level-1 hip protectors. The knee armor pockets, integrated into the mesh inner lining, allow for h adjustment of the pad to ensure a precise fit. Ventilation is key to a comfortable ride in hot weather, and the updated Sand 5 pants deliver with newly implemented, oversized 3D roll-down vents on each thigh, which replace the smaller slit-style vents found on the Sand 4 series. Additionally, the roll-down poly panels can be partially opened by using a provided snap or fully opened and neatly tucked into the shell. A mesh pocket built into the vent panel on the left thigh is perfectly sized to hold most phones. The new vent system necessitated revised pockets, now consisting of simple snap-closure hand warmers on the top of each thigh, while a new cell phone pocket in the mesh panel allows for access without blocking airflow. Wide leg openings with a large hook-and-loop flap closure will accommodate either motocross or touring boots. Stretch panels are located above each knee to aid flexibility while leather panels in the inner leg assure a nice grip on the tank when you need it. To keep your pant legs snug over boots, large hook-and-loop flaps are supplied, as well as a sliding belt-style adjuster just below the knee. Stretch panels above each knee enhance flexibility, while leather inner-leg panels provide a secure grip on the tank when needed. In terms of fit, the Sand 5 has transitioned from a bulky hook-and-loop waist adjustment system to a sleek buckle and sliding strap design, offering a more streamlined finish. While the updated design certainly looks cleaner, it also allows for smoother movement under the jacket. The new Sand 5 pants come in men’s sizes XS to 4XL and two color options: Black and Silver/Black. As with the new jacket, the Sand 5 pants retail for $399.99, maintaining the same price as the previous Sand 4 version despite numerous upgrades. Sand 5 Gloves Sand 5 gloves are designed for riders who need lightweight, well-ventilated protection for warmer-weather adventures. With a short-cuff design and a combination of perforated leather and 3D air mesh, they prioritize breathability while maintaining durability. They feature upgraded TPU palm and thumb sliders, replacing the softer TPR sliders for improved abrasion resistance. The knuckle protection has also been redesigned with a lighter, more flexible split TPR system, enhancing dexterity. A combination of perforated leather and 3D air mesh maintains airflow while ensuring durability. These gloves additionally feature an improved fit and grip, enhancing control on long rides as well as touchscreen-friendly fingertips. Available in sizes XS to 4XL the new Sand 5 gloves come in Black, Silver/Red, Gray/Red and Sand/Black and sell for a suggested $119.99. Sand 5 H2O Gloves The REV’IT! Sand 5 H2O gloves bring key upgrades for adventure riders who frequently find themselves riding in wet weather. A new four-way stretch construction enhances comfort and flexibility, while a restructured pinky design reduces bulk and tightness for a more natural feel. The knuckle protection has been refined with a lighter, sleeker design, complementing the TPU palm and thumb sliders that replace the previous softer TPR reinforcements for improved durability and impact resistance. Further refinements include a waterproof Hydratex | Z-liner backed by a new Tri-Fleece Push-Pull liner, which actively wicks (‘pulls’) moisture away from the hands and ‘pushes’ it to the outer layer of the glove, for added comfort. Hard knuckle protection, TPU thumb protectors, and palm sliders help protect your hands if you happen to get bucked off. The wrist closure system has been streamlined and features a stretch panel underneath that makes the gloves easier to put on and remove, while an extended suede visor wiper panel adds practicality. The Sand 5 H20 gloves retail for $149.99 and come Black or Black/Gray/Red and sizes XS to 4XL. Women’s Sand 5 Jacket & Pants REV’IT! has long been a strong supporter of female motorcyclists, particularly in the adventure riding community, through the creation and continued support of its Women’s ADV Team, a program that celebrates female riders, showcasing their skills and contributions to the ADV world. The company’s wide selection of female-specific gear echoes that commitment, and for 2025 the women’s Sand suit — first introduced in 2011 — receives the same upgrades as the guy’s fit, with a few differences. In addition to a more feminine cut, the 3D mesh vents on the lady’s version are positioned lower on the chest. Tapered back vents are likewise strategically placed to optimize airflow while considering the female form. The women’s version of the Sand 5 jacket and pants retail for $529.99 and $399.99 respectively. The jacket comes in Euro sizes 34 to 46 and three colorways: Black/Anthracite, Sand/Blue, and Silver/Anthracite, while the pants in Black and Silver/Black come in the same size range and offer short and tall inseams. Women can also add new matching, slim-fit Sand 5 Ladies gloves for Black or Grey/Red, sizes XS to XL for $119.99.
