advrider
American motorsports broadcaster MAVTV is changing hands. After years of operation under the Lucas umbrella (the same Lucas that specializes in powersports specialty lubricants, and has their fingers in lots of other motor-related pies out of Indianapolis), MAVTV has been acquired by the RACER Motorsports Network. MAVTV was available on 350 million devices, the company said, through satellite/cable broadcasting as well as its streaming app. While they certainly specialized in four-wheeled footage, but it had plenty of two-wheeled racing on display as well, including FIM speedway and roadracing broadcasts. It sounds like, for now, that will keep on as business-as-usual is supposed to be the plan for now, despite the fact that MAVTV is based in Indiana and RACER is based in California. In fact, RACER billed this as positive expansion of its capabilities, not a chance to hack-and-slash: The combination will provide the Irvine-based RACER brand with a substantial additional base of operations in another of the United States’ motorsports and automotive centers, Indianapolis, where MAVTV is located. The company expects no changes to staffing or operations, ensuring continuity in operations and production. The Euro-based racing would be unaffected by cuts to Indianapolis anyway, most likely. RACER does have its own moto coverage already, although it’s certainly not the highlight of the site. Together, RACER and MAVTV expect to broadcast more than 300 live races in 2025, along with commentary, vehicle auctions, build shows, lifestyle programming and the other usual motorsports network filler. If you’re looking to see if new moto content is added, keep an eye on Racer.com for announcements. Vezi sursa
