Advpulse Adaugat pe 22 Noiembrie, 2023 Share Adaugat pe 22 Noiembrie, 2023 Call it the “second coming.” With the launch of the 790 Adventure platform in 2018, the Austrian manufacturer set the standard for performance adventure bikes in the midweight segment until being discontinued a couple of years later. Now, a year after a reworked 790 hit dealer floors overseas, KTM is finally bringing the reinvigorated model to America. For its comeback, the 790 receives bodywork changes similar to those of the 890 Adventure. Updates include a new front mask between the head of the bike and the fuel tank, which gives way to an integrated fairing. The section not only offers better protection from the elements but it is bolstered by forged aluminum brackets that provide improved stiffness to the front mask, windshield, and instrument tower. Although the 2024 KTM 790 Adventure still pumps out 95 hp and 65 ft-lbs of torque, the 790cc parallel-twin has been improved to meet EURO5 standards. KTM says the bike now delivers a smoother ride thanks to a 20% increase in crankshaft weight, plus reworked throttle bodies offer better combustion and fuel efficiency. An additional knock control system affords a higher state of ignition and better capacity for low octane fuel; a reassuring characteristic for the different qualities of gasoline found while traveling. ADVERTISEMENT A reconfigured optional Quickshifter+ enables faster shifting; which can be heard through the latest exhaust system with 2024 catalytic converter and pre-muffler. The 9,300 mi (15,000 km) service intervals remain unchanged. The suspension for the next-gen 790 has also been revised with optimized settings. Upfront, the bike is equipped with a 43 mm WP APEX fork offering 7.9 inches (200 mm) of travel with the same allotment for the shock, which has preload adjustability. The construction of the CroMo frame, in which the engine is used as a stressed member, offers a robust platform for pillion and load-carrying, as well as clever positioning of the rear shock for a low seat h of 33 inches (840 mm). KTM has also reworked the Power Assist Slipper Clutch with new friction plates and the engine breathes freer with a new airbox. Additionally, the 2024 790 Adventure receives the latest 6D sensor, otherwise known as the Inertia Management Unit, that can be found on larger KTM siblings like the KTM 890 Adventure and KTM 1290 Super Adventure models. This sophisticated device informs the Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control and other aspects such as ABS, Motor Slip Regulation and the administration of Ride Modes. The KTM 790 Adventure holds very similar electronic features as its larger sibling: the KTM 890 Adventure R. ABS programs now automatically switch between the Ride Modes, removing the need for more configuration. The new bike also comes with the ‘DEMO’ function which allows owners to try out the full slew of optional riding extras for the first 1,500 km before deciding which settings they’d like to purchase and keep. The bike is equipped with a 5.3-gallon (20-liter) fuel tank and a 2-piece saddle (which can be swapped and augmented through KTM’s PowerParts assortment for single or heated units. A new larger, higher screen provides more wind protection plus the dashboard view is brighter and better with the 5” TFT reacting to ambient lighting and utilizing a redesigned menu system of new infographics for faster and easier customization. Syncing the KTMconnect App will now lead to even more beneficial navigational and travel options, such as profiling the ‘top 10’ calls and contacts and adjusting the parameters of turn-by-turn guidance on the go. For extra defense against hits and dents, the front of the bike is equipped with a light aluminum engine protector fitted as standard. The plastics (injected molded with graphics for more resistance) have also been reshaped to guard the tank and seat against unwanted knocks.The bike also comes with more off-road oriented Pirelli Scorpion STR tires. 2024 KTM 790 ADVENTURE HIGHLIGHTS New, KTM 450 RALLY inspired bodywork and windscreen offer improved aerodynamics and weather protection. New, larger aluminum engine guard mounted to the low-slung 20-liter / 5.3-gallon fuel tank. Updated ABS system with 9.3 MP modulator links Offroad ABS Mode to Offroad ride mode. Rider aids include Street, Offroad, Rain and optional Rally ride modes and Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC). Optional features include Motor Slip Regulation (MSR), KTMconnect to connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth, Quickshifter+ for clutchless up and down shifts, heated grips, heated seat and cruise control. New Demo Mode allows sampling of the full electronic rider aids suite for the first 1,500 km. LED headlight, brake light, and turn indicators. As far as availability, KTM says the 2024 KTM 790 ADVENTURE will arrive at authorized KTM dealerships just in time to ring in the new year.
